“IF THERE IS NO STRUGGLE, THERE IS NO PROGRESS” Angelina Hines – Founder and Director of Ella Bebe Angels
Angelina Hines is the heart and visionary force behind Ella Bebe Angels, a nonprofit organization she founded in 2019 to honor the enduring legacy of her beloved mother, Miss Ella Bebe. What began as a personal tribute has grown into a transformative, multi-dimensional initiative dedicated to empowering domestic violence survivors and supporting vulnerable families throughout Shelby and DeSoto Counties — and beyond. Under Mrs. Hines’ steadfast leadership, the organization expanded into a vibrant online platform, dramatically increasing visibility, accessibility, and community engagement while advancing its mission on a global scale. A devoted mother of four and proud grandmother of six, Mrs. Hines currently serves as the organization’s full-time secretary. She brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and purpose to the role, drawing from over 30 years of professional experience in the healthcare and corporate sectors. She studied Social Services at the University of Memphis and earned her nursing certification from Cuyahoga Valley Medical Nursing Services, blending her academic training with lived experience to ensure that Ella Bebe Angels remains both compassionate and mission-driven. Mrs. Hines is a lifelong servant-leader and champion of human rights. Her unwavering commitment to uplifting others is reflected in her involvement with numerous civic and faith-based organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the United Way Driving the Dream initiative, Unity Service Alliance, Blessing Through Broken Hearts, and the Order of the Eastern Star Organization. She also serves faithfully in her church as a member of the Usher Board just to name a few. Her advocacy for domestic violence survivors is deeply personal and purpose-filled. After witnessing the unmet needs and overlooked voices in her community, she became determined to create a safe, supportive, and empowering space for healing. Through Ella Bebe Angels, she has helped hundreds of survivors access emergency shelter, life coaching, transportation, essentials, and critical wraparound services. Mrs. Hines lives by the mantra: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” She believes that while adversity is inevitable, it can also be a catalyst for growth, change, and resilience. One of her guiding quotes is: “Pain is inevitable, but misery is a choice,” a reflection of her commitment to turning pain into purpose through faith, service, and community action. She often encourages others to “Be the change you want to see in society,” a motto that captures her spirit of leadership and legacy of love.
